Making Solar Data Accessible
Orange Button supports the creation and adoption of industry-led open data standards for rapid and seamless data exchange across the solar value chain from origination to decommissioning. Standardizing data allows for a reduction in soft costs - making it easier to share solar data and speed up processes, like financing.
Discovering and standardizing the most desired sets of solar data is our first priority. Our team is working with state governments, customers, utilities, finaciers, solar companies, entrepreneurs, and other industry stakeholders to determine the needs and set data standards. About the Project Partners
The Boston-based Smart Grid Interoperability Panel (SGIP) is leading a 24-month stakeholder and public engagement effort to drive our inefficiencies in data exchanges and discover data needs and gaps. Santa Clara-based SunSpec Alliance will work with industry to create a uniform data taxonomy and standards, while neighbor kWh Analytics, in San Francisco, will produce a data translation tool to transform existing data into the standard formats to be delivered via an exchange platform developed by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory in Golden, Colorado.
